Online Programs coming Up in December- updated Dec. 3 @1:54pm

50+ December Community Program Updates 

Maddy advises that 'Indoor in person programs' are best postponed until we see a vast improvement in the Covid-19 numbers.
At this time of writing, approval has been given to go ahead with the walking group as it is outside and for her to host some 1:1 in-person 'learning to zoom' sessions.

1.  New Online Presentation - Elder Abuse: What is it? How to deal with it?'  Details and links available in the PVSS calendar notes (click on the entry to open).   Registration is not required this webinar which airs Wednesday, Dec 9 from 1pm to 2pm and whoever gets the link below can join in.

2.  Thursday December 3rd           1:1 Learn to Zoom (FREE)
Join Maddy at The REC on December 3rd to learn how to use Zoom and register for Community Centre programs online. This is a great opportunity for 50+ community members to learn how to participate in the Pemberton and District Community Centre's upcoming programs from the safety of your own home. Participants must bring their own device - a smartphone, laptop, or tablet. Please emailmhepner@pemberton.ca to reserve a time.
 
3.  Wednesday's                             Walking Group (FREE)
If you are 50 and over, join Maddy for a Wednesday mid-morning stroll. This is a casual walking group where all abilities and fitness levels are welcome. Get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and meet new people. Walking route will be discussed amongst those attending. Meet at 11:30am on Wednesday's outside The REC - Pemberton's Youth and Seniors' centre.
 
4.   Thursday Dec 3rd & 10th         Online Adult Meditation (Value Added pricing)
Join us virtually for a Meditation class! If you are new to Meditating or wanting to learn new techniques - Andrea will skillfully guide you through a very calming Meditative experience. This 30-minute mindfulness meditation class held on  Thursday's at 6:30 p.m.  will focus on cultivating a calm mind, connection, and clarity.  Pre-registration required.
As this is  not a 50+ specific program  Maddy will not be able to be as lenient on pre-registration. If anyone is having difficulty registering they can of course still reach out to her for help.
NB. For those attending the Yoga on Thursdays, both classes will count as one 'punch' on their pass rather than two.
 
5.  Saturday's                                  Online Social Needlecraft Circle (FREE)
If you are 50+ and looking for a quiet mid-morning activity to participate in from the safety of your home, the Online Social Needlepoint Circle may be for you! Whether you favour knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting or another needlepoint activity, this is a great opportunity to be social and share your methods and patterns with one another. The program will commence at 10am on Saturday December 12th. Please note that this is a non-instructed program and supplies are not provided. 6.  Wednesday December 23rd       Online Holiday Celebration (FREE)
Celebrate the upcoming holidays with friends and fellow 50+ community members via Zoom on Wednesday December 23rd at 1pm. Listen to music, singalong and participate in virtual games. 7.1 Tuesday's   -   Online Strength Training (Value Added pricing)
This 50+ adult progressive strength training class is designed to increase strength, flexibility, range of motion, mobility, gait and balance. The 45 minutes class runs online via Zoom every Tuesday morning at 9am. The exercises will be performed standing (option to sit) with weights, elastic bands or just your body weight. 7.2 Thursday's   -  Online Chair Yoga (Value Added pricing)
This is a soft, gentle 50+ Chair Yoga class where breath, movement & meditation are all combined. With your eyes half or fully closed you will focus on bending, stretching & folding using your breath to relax & release tension, calm your mind & restore your energy. This is a peaceful calming class interlaced with laughter.
