Sept. Update #2
1. As many of you know the Lions Club organized a massive project this spring/summer. To convert a hop field into a garden to plant and grow vegetables to be delivered to seniors and the food bank in our area. Beneficiaries enjoyed a weekly bag of freshly picked vegetables along with seeing the cheerful volunteers who delivered them. Behind the scenes were the coordinators, cultivators, pickers and doubtless many more unsung heros. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE OF YOU for a providing a great service much appreciated by the seniors in the community.
2. Marnie participated in a number of Zoom meetings with the BC
Seniors Advocate as a member of her advisory committee over the
past three months. Isobel (BCSA) is a member of the BC COVID health
planning team and so is able to keep us up to date on plans
involving care for seniors. She was especially encouraged to see
there was a focus on transportation for seniors in rural areas -
page 9 (a topic she has been advocating for over a number of years.
